Wheelhouse Family Foundation is deeply moved by the transformation Light of Life has sparked within their programs and shelters, but also for our city as a whole.
“…connecting them to the life-changing community and resources that can take them further.”
For 70 years, Light of Life has been, “bringing hope and healing to men, women, and families experiencing homelessness, poverty, or addiction, transforming their lives through the love of Christ.” Their efforts meet each individual they serve where they are, while also connecting them to the life-changing community and resources that can take them further.
In addition to emergency services and community outreach, Light of Life offers a Life Transformation and New Life Alumni Program. The Life Transformation Program provides men, women, and children with a variety of resources to meet their basic needs, work through internal struggles (including but not limited to mental health issues), build community, and establish and reach goals for future employment. Up to 40 men and 40 women are able to be a part of the program at one time, which typically lasts 18-24 months. The New Life Alumni Program is the “follow-up” portion of the Life Transformation Program. After completing the initial program, graduates are mentored on a bi-weekly basis for additional accountability toward reaching their goals. In the following years, students have often joined the Alumni program after graduating; a community that meets with the mission to serve others going through the program.
Wheelhouse Family Foundation is deeply moved by the transformation Light of Life has sparked within their programs and shelters, but also for our city as a whole. We are honored to contribute toward their fundraising ventures, like The Yinzer 5K and the More Than a Meal Gala. These events are especially close to our hearts as they raise awareness and support for the mission to other Pittsburghers like us. Simply put, the more givers, the better! We want to help make that happen.
